Underpinning
refers to the process of drilling helical piers/anchors into the soil around
your foundation to a depth where stable subsoil is located. Once there, we
transfer the weight of your foundation to the helical piers, so that the helical
piers support your foundation, not the settling earth that was there before.
Using brackets attached to your foundation, we then raise your foundation to
permanently raise/level that foundation back to its original position (see the
picture below). We have instrumentation on board our equipment that documents
the bearing capacity achieved with each anchor installed to guarantee you that
the proper bearing to lift and hold your structure has been obtained. We provide
you with written documentation of the specific bearing measurement achieved so
you will know your foundation has been lifted and secured to engineering
specifications.
The anchors are applied proportionately around the affected settling foundation
to achieve the lift necessary to bring the settled foundation back to its
original position in a uniform manner.
These high strength hot galvanized steel anchors are
driven into stable subsoil and anchored to your foundation. (To re-emphasize
what has been said above, the weight of your home is then shifted to the screw
anchors. In the process foundations, walls, and floors are leveled and
repositioned against further movement. The number, placement, and required load
bearing of the screws is determined by a professional engineering design to
correct your specific problem. This same concept can be applied to problems with
pools or pool decks as well. Once installed, these anchors will last the
lifetime of your structure insuring your peace of mind!
